19/02/2017 - Heligan Christmas Fair

Christmas is always a magical time at The Lost Gardens....

....and this festive season brings with it the Heligan Christmas Fair, on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December from 10am to 4pm.

This festive event, will give you the perfect opportunity to get into the festive spirit and soak up the stunning surroundings as well as find some truly unique Christmas gifts.

Heligan’s ethos for showcasing local businesses will be felt strongly during this time as they invite over 80 local producers, artisans, creators and makers to come and trade under a canopy of festive joy, with marquees in the coach park, picnic and ticketing areas.

Visitors are invited to browse the traders' wares to find something unique for that special person – and with well over 80 stalls, there's certainly plenty on offer including food and drink produce, crafts, jewellery, art and more.

There’s also the opportunity to buy or order your Christmas tree! Choose from a 3 foot pot grown Norway spruce all the way up to a 10ft Nordmann!

A warm welcome awaits you in the Heligan Kitchen where you can tempt your taste buds with delicious seasonal treats from the Heligan Bakery, enjoy a mulled wine and soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

Don’t forget to pop into the award winning Lobbs Farm Shop on your way back to your car, to pick up some of the best food from the countryside and why not order your Christmas turkey whilst you’re there.

Free to Heligan Annual Members, £1 Local Pass holders and £2 for everyone else – including garden entry.

19/02/2017 - Apple Grafting weekend at Cotehele

Apple grafting weekend at Cotehele

18th February, 2017 - 19th February, 2017

Saturday 18 February - Sunday 19 February, 11am-4pm

We'll show you how to graft your own apple tree that you'll be able to take away to plant in your garden back home. The tree varieties available on the day are specific to the Tamar Valley, most of which will never be commercially viable so this is a rare opportunity to have these uncommon varieties in your own garden, and you'll be helping to keep the gene pool alive and conserving the varieties for generations to come. Limit of two trees per workshop. There will be at least 20 different varieties to choose from including Hocking's Green, Cornish Mother and King Byerd. The apples are a range of cooking apples, eating apples delicious straight from the tree or cider apples. Rootstock types are M9 (Dwarf), MM106 (Medium), M25 (large and vigorous). You'll be able to take away a grafted tree for only a fiver.

Meet in the education room. No need to book, it's a rolling programme of workshops.

Assistance dogs are welcome.
